Field Technical Support Engineer – High-Voltage X-Ray Systems
Position Summary
We are seeking a Field Technical Support Engineer with hands-on experience servicing high‑power X‑ray systems. This role supports high‑voltage generators, X‑ray tubes, HV cabling, cabinet interlock systems, and cooling subsystems used in laboratory, research, and industrial irradiation platforms. Candidates with generator-to-tube integration troubleshooting experience are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain cabinet-based X‑ray systems
- Diagnose faults involving HV generators, X‑ray tubes, HV cables, cooling systems, and safety interlocks
- Perform preventative maintenance and performance verification
- Support system upgrades, component replacement, and retrofits
- Provide remote technical support and maintain service documentation
- Train customers on safe operation and preventative maintenance practices
- Travel regularly to customer sites for installation, maintenance, and emergency repairs (50–70% travel)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Engineering Technology, Physics, or equivalent experience and ASNT certification
- 5+ years supporting high‑voltage X‑ray systems
- Experience with generators, tubes, HV cabling, cabinet interlocks, and cooling subsystems
- Strong electrical/mechanical troubleshooting capability
- Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Ability to travel frequently and support field-based service operations
Preferred Experience
- Cabinet-based irradiators with Comet, Faxitron, Feinfocus, Gulmay, Spellman, Varex or VJX platforms
- Industrial X‑ray / NDT systems
- Radiation safety practices and compliance environments
Physical & Work Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work safely around high‑voltage radiation-producing equipment
- Ability to work in laboratory and technical service environments
