Stratford, CT – October 14, 2021 – KUBTEC announced today that it has installed the first Mozart 3D tomosynthesis imaging system in Connecticut at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, a member hospital of Trinity Health Of New England. The Mozart System is used in the OR to enable breast surgeons to perform more accurate procedures and to reduce the number of repeat surgeries.

“The new system dramatically improve(s) surgeons’ and facilities’ re-excision rate” said Dr. Beth Sieling, a Trinity Health Of New England breast surgeon in an interview with the Republican American

3D tomosynthesis found in The Mozart System from KUBTEC is revolutionizing how surgeons view their specimens in the operating room. Surgeons now have the power to see their specimens during their operations and make a more confident decision on whether or not they have obtained clear margins.

“When I read the studies that showed that the re-excision rates were markedly lower. My re-excision rates were already low, but I want them to be zero. I don’t want to take anybody back.” said Dr. Beth Sieling

Saint Mary’s Hospital is the first in Connecticut to have this technology within its operating rooms. They are a Catholic, not-for-profit hospital that has been providing exceptional patient care since 1909. Saint Mary’s Hospital’s reach extends from Waterbury to Wolcott, Cheshire, Naugatuck, Southbury, Prospect, and Watertown.
